Director of Operations

Part-time or Full-time (hours negotiable)
Salary: Competitive, aligned with University of Cambridge pay scales (Grade 6)

St Andrew’s, Histon is seeking a Director of Operations to join our leadership team and help shape the future of our vibrant church community.

About the Role

The Director of Operations will provide strategic and operational leadership for all aspects of church and centre operations, ensuring our vision is realised through effective management of people, processes, and resources. You will work closely with the Vicar, PCC, staff, and volunteers to enable the smooth running and future development of St Andrew’s.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading on operational strategy, systems, and continuous improvement
  • Overseeing church office, facilities, and administration
  • Managing budgets, financial reporting, and supporting sustainable practices
  • Line managing administrative staff and fostering a positive working culture
  • Ensuring compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, and data protection
  • Supporting communication, service planning, and special events
  • Contributing to governance and committee work

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has proven experience in operations management, administration, or similar leadership roles
  • Is highly organised, strategic, and a problem-solver
  • Has excellent people management and communication skills
  • Is committed to the Christian faith and aligns with the vision and values of St Andrew’s
  • Is able to work collaboratively and with integrity

Experience in a church, charity, or not-for-profit setting is desirable but not essential.

Terms

  • Hours: Full-time or part-time (to be discussed)
  • Salary: Competitive, aligned with University of Cambridge pay scales (Grade 6)
  • Location: Saint Andrew’s Centre, Histon
  • Line management: Reports to the Vicar
